You Deserve To Be Here
Have you landed your dream job, or were you accepted into your dream college program? Now that you have made it to that goal you are questioning if you should even be there. I know that that was my struggle stepping into each promotion and my Master’s program. I was young and insecure, and I didn’t think that I deserved it. Yes I had worked hard to get there, but for some reason I didn’t think that I deserved to be there. Often times I have found that the person that is the biggest saboteur is ourselves. We talk ourselves out of speaking up at work because we don’t think that our voice matters. Maybe you are a woman maybe you are a person of color and you think in the back of your mind that you are fulfilling some quota. This is not true! We need to stop the negative thinking. It’s that stinking thinking that holds us back from being all that we can be. We tell ourselves that we aren’t good enough and then we fulfill that prophecy because of how we think. The bible says in Proverbs 23:7 for as he thinketh in his heart, so is he… I have found that the enemy comes to attack our minds because if he can trap us with negativity then we start to act out what is in our mind. The enemy uses fear to control us and stop us from embracing all that God has for us. One scripture that I always keep in my mind is Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans that I have for you declares the lord plans to prosper you and to not harm you plans to give you a hope and a future. God has great plans in store for all of us we just have to first believe that we can do it! If we can change our mindset we can change the world all because we know that we can. What is that one thing that you have been thinking about doing, but you have let your thoughts talk you out of if? Those thoughts of doubt are just the enemy. It’s all because he wants you to doubt yourself out of ever knowing the true impact that your idea could have on this world. So let’s all agree to speak up and step out on faith whether that be at work or at school or even at church. Whatever your platform you have earned the right to be there! Stop doubting yourself and embrace the space!
